About the position

Our Client is looking for a versatile Stock Clerk to add to their warehouse team in Tongaat. The role is cross functional and will report to the Warehousing Manager for operational matters and to the Financial Team for management oversight.

The two core functions of the role are Inventory management and reconciliation, and assisting with daily processing.

Requirements:

  • 2 years' (minimum) stock control experience
  • Inventory management processes and procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Exceptional typing skills
  • Good communication skills (good interpersonal communication and be able to communicate clearly in both written and verbal format)
  • Able to work with cross functional teams
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience working with an ERP system (SAP, Syspro, Business Central) advantageous

Responsibilities:
Order processing:

  • Verify the accuracy of data before entering it into the system
  • Locate and correct any visible data errors by confirming their integrity with supervisors
  • Capture information into financial systems and double-check the information
  • General administration duties including filing and upkeep of supporting documentation
  • Liaise with customers/reps on movement of goods

Inventory Management and Reconciliation:

  • Assist with monthly stock count processes, including counting of stock
  • Support in managing and controlling stock across the company's various stock locations
  • Assisting the finance department with the monthly stock reconciliation processes, including identifying and investigating stock variances
  • Reporting discrepancies between physical counts and theoretical system records to the finance department
  • Following up on queries from the finance department regarding stock discrepancies
  • Stock quantity confirmation on items indicated by finance department
  • Developing or improving upon inventory count procedures together with the warehouse team and finance department
