SQL Developer at QES

About the position

My client based in Cape Town (North) is currently sourcing a SQL Developer to join them on an independent contract basis

Cape Town / Hybrid work model / Contract / Financial Services
Sourcing a SQL Developer to work within a development team to design and implement SQL solutions for business applications, including integrations and solving data-related problems. They will be responsible for adhering to coding standards, change control, and SQL best practices. They will also troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, and recommend preventative measures.

Key Responsibilities:

Designing and Implementing SQL Solutions:
Develop and implement SQL code for business applications, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to standards.

Problem Solving:
Identify and resolve issues within the data environment, leveraging troubleshooting skills and knowledge of technology.

Adhering to Best Practices:
Follow established coding standards, change control procedures, and SQL best practices.

Root Cause Analysis:
Investigate and resolve complex issues, including performing root cause analysis and recommending preventative measures.

Requirements Review:
Review and interpret business and technical requirements to ensure solutions meet needs.

Collaboration:
Work closely with other developers and stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.

Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of SQL code and solutions.

Agile Development:
Contribute to an agile environment, participating in planning, development, and testing activities.

Emerging Technologies:
Stay informed about new technologies and development practices, particularly in areas like scripting languages and containerization.

CI/CD Pipelines:
May be involved in creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for deploying applications.

Observability:
Utilize modern observability techniques to monitor and understand application performance.
