About the position
To provide integrated speech and language therapy services within a progressive private school environment, supporting early identification, intervention, and ongoing development of learners, while simultaneously operating an independent private practice from purpose-designed facilities on the school campus.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
- 5 years relevant clinical experience working with children
- Strong experience in early childhood and Foundation Phase language development
- Competence in assessment, diagnosis, intervention planning, and progress reporting
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to run an independent private practice on site
Key Performance Areas:
- Provide speech and language therapy services to learners within the school environment
- Conduct assessments, screenings, and early identification of speech, language, and communication needs
- Deliver individual and small-group interventions aligned to learner needs and developmental milestones
- Collaborate closely with teachers, learning support staff, and families to embed support into daily learning
- Contribute to preventative, inclusive support models rather than isolated pull-out therapy
- Support language development within Learning Hubs and enquiry-based learning environments
- Educate and guide parents and educators through practical strategies and feedback
- Establish and manage an independent therapy practice operating from the school campus
- Maintain accurate clinical records, reports, and professional documentation
