About the position

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically skilled Specialist Support Engineer – Systems Virtualization & Storage Infrastructure to join our MIS team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, administration, maintenance, optimization, and support of the organization’s virtualization, storage, server, and backup infrastructure environments.


This role requires deep technical expertise across VMware virtualization platforms, IBM storage technologies, Windows Server administration, and Veeam backup solutions. The incumbent will also play a key role in infrastructure planning, operational support, disaster recovery readiness, vendor management, documentation management, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.


Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Virtualization Management

  • Manage and maintain VMware virtual infrastructure environments and associated virtualization solutions.
  • Design, implement, monitor, and optimize virtualization infrastructure for performance, scalability, and resilience.
  • Ensure high availability and operational continuity of virtualized environments.
Backup & Storage Administration
  • Oversee enterprise backup infrastructure and disaster recovery solutions using Veeam Backup & Replication.
  • Administer and maintain backup systems for enterprise and operational technology environments.
  • Manage user backup infrastructure and ensure backup integrity, retention, and recovery procedures are effective.
  • Administer IBM storage infrastructure, including storage arrays, tape systems, fibre infrastructure, and associated hardware solutions.
Server & Hardware Support
  • Manage server hardware infrastructure and associated technologies.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, and performance across systems environments.
  • Perform upgrades, patch management, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance activities.
Project & Vendor Management
  • Execute infrastructure-related projects and special assignments as required.
  • Liaise with, coordinate, and manage third-party contractors and service providers.
  • Participate in infrastructure planning, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Governance, Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date MIS operational and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Adhere to Air Products’ safety standards and Basis Safety Practice (BSP) activities.
  • Support audit, compliance, and risk management activities where required.
Operational Support
  • Participate in standby, after-hours support, rotational on-call duties, and weekend support where required.
  • Travel to operational sites as required to support infrastructure operations and projects.


RequirementsQualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent qualification.
Required Certifications
  • MCSA/MCSE: Windows Server Certification
  • MCITP Enterprise Administrator for Windows Server
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP6/VCP7/VCP8/VCP9)
  • IBM Certified Specialist certifications in:
    • IBM System X
    • IBM Storage
    • IBM Tape
    • IBM Fibre
  • Veeam Certified Backup Specialist
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Windows Server Systems Administrator.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience administering VMware environments.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as an IBM Storage Administrator.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience administering enterprise backup solutions using Veeam.
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise-level infrastructure environments.
  • Experience working in highly available and mission-critical environments.
Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Advanced knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies.
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server administration and enterprise systems support.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise storage infrastructure and backup solutions.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities.
  • Knowledge of server hardware technologies and infrastructure monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure security and compliance practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.

Preferred Industry Experience
Experience within manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or large enterprise environments will be advantageous.
