About the position

Postion Summary:
The National Research Foundation (NRF) seeks to make an appointment for the position of Specialist: Performance & Talent Management who will be responsible for developing and implementing approved performance and talent management (including career development and succession planning) strategies, policies, and programmes that align with the organisation’s business goals and support its talent acquisition, retention, and development objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify overarching company performance and development goals
  • Create and oversee the implementation of the processes and procedures that support and enhance formal management of employee performance as per the organisation’s objectives
  • Establish communications channels to disseminate formal performance management processes, and processes to receive employee feedback and modify development policies and standards accordingly
  • Gather and assess business intelligence and the necessary data to assess employee performance and identify individual and departmental workplace issues and development barriers
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of talent and career development strategies, tools, and resources
  • Propose approaches, ideas, and business insight to HR leadership and business partners to increase the effectiveness, reach, and visibility of talent and career programmes and help the organisation respond to career and talent-related opportunities and demands
  • Facilitate senior level inclusive processes to identify critical positions that will be needed to support business continuity
  • Identify competencies, skills, and institutional knowledge that are critical success factorsDevelop a pool of talent to step into critical positions through targeted career development strategies
  • Provide guidance in the administration of Psychometric Assessments for specific roles
  • Maintain Psychometric Database and records of testing supplies, and assessment instruments
  • Engage with service providers on assessments and administration processes
  • Maintain confidentiality of assessment reports

Minimum Qualification:
  • Honours Degree / Post Graduate Qualification / Professional Qualification / NQF 8

Minimum Experience:
  • 5-10 years
  • NQF 8 Qualification in Human Resources/Psychology or related
  • Qualification in project management will be advantageous
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Psychometrist
  • 5 years’ experience in a performance, talent management and/or human resources development environmentExperience in employee development, assessment and career management

Experience:
  • Computer skills (MS Projects, Excel, PPT, Word etc
  • )Communication Skills (Verbal & Written)Excellent Administrative and organisation skillsInterpersonal SkillsAttention to detail
  • Problem solving

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of performance management, talent management, career development and succession planning
  • Ability to effectively use HR information management and planning software
  • Ability to engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
