SPECIALIST - BUTCHERY
My client a leading FMCG retailer in Cape Town has an exciting new vacancy for a Specialist -Butchery, reporting to the Meat buyer and Purchasing Manager.
THE POSITION
The purpose of this position is to provide an effective and efficient service to the Retailers through effective communication and support, to maximize their profitability as well as driving loyalty through the DC and approved suppliers.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Develop excellent 'value adding' consulting relationship with our retailers.
- Provide retailers specialist advice on all matters relating to butchery including, store specific range, layout &display, equipment, innovation of new lines, dropshipment suppliers, promotions, production planning &costings, stocktaking, value added lines, studio, usage, staffing and best practices.
- Evaluate and assess butchery staff training needs and conduct in-house training through workshops or one-on-one training.
- Conduct hygiene and safety inspections.
- Keep up to date with the current legalisation effecting safety and hygiene as well as food labelling.
- Drive promotions at Retail and visit stores to effect sales.
- Perform the communication link between Marketing and Retailers regarding meat/ butchery issues.
- To work closely with meat buyer to grow loyalty and DC/Dropshipment purchases by performing monthly loyalty analysis.
- To use the sales figures provided by the meat buyer to identify opportunities relating to growth and loyalty by store and report back to team members weekly.
- Drive relationships with our suppliers and meet with them regularly in conjunction with the buyer.
- Product development- continually work on new concepts to ensure that The Company remains at the forefront on the meat industry.
- Conduct price surveys from our competitors.
- Share amongst all stores latest ideas picked up through store visitors so best practice opportunities gain traction.
THE PERSON MUST SATISFY THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES
- Matric Certificate
- Valid Code 8 driver's license 3
- A butchery related qualification
- Excellent butchery technical skills
- Must be computer literate (Word & Excel)
- Be able to analyse reports
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Retail Butchery management
- Excellent training and coaching skills.
- Capable of designing the layout for a butchery and sourcing equipment.
- In depth understanding of the meat trade and current market conditions
- Financial/ business acumen and analytic
- In depth understanding of specific market needs in Western Cape & Namibia
