About the position
The Space Planning Manager will be responsible for optimising store space utilisation and category performance.
The role involves planning, developing, and controlling methods and systems to improve the effectiveness of space management at the site level.
The Space Planning Manager will ensure that store layouts and shelf arrangements are efficient, profitable, and aligned with customer shopping patterns and category strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Space Planning team to create and refresh merchandise space plans (planograms) in line with business objectives and category strategies
- Analyse financial metrics (e.g., GP per sqm, GMROI, trading density) to assess and improve category and SKU performance
- Oversee the use and implementation of space planning software and data systems, including data mining and analysis
- Optimise space, inventory, and supply chain levers to increase product availability, reduce out-of-stocks and wastage, and maximize shelf productivity
- Conduct research and analytics on market and category trends, ensuring alignment with the Group's overall strategy
- Drive profitable returns at the point of purchase through effective merchandising, inventory, and pricing strategies
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Buyers, Planners, Operations, Store Development) to support decision-making and opportunity identification
Requirements:
- Marketing degree
- At least 5 years in a management role
- Strong judgment, customer focus, and results orientation
- Ability to lead teams, drive improvement, and manage compliance and ethics
- Adaptability and strong supervisory skills
