Software Integration Specialist (Conservation) IOT Devices at Sabenza IT & Recruitment

About the position

We are seeking a highly technical and hands-on Software Integration Specialist to support the development and deployment of conservation technology solutions.


The role focuses on building software-driven data integrations, managing technology infrastructure monitoring, and designing IoT-based conservation systems. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of software engineering, networking, IoT deployment, and environmental technology, translating operational data into actionable insights that support conservation efforts.



Key Responsibilities


Software & Data Integration


·        Develop and maintain software data pipelines using code (primarily Python).


·        Integrate data from multiple technology platforms into centralized systems.


·        Build scalable solutions for collecting, processing, and analysing field data.


·        Ensure data reliability, monitoring, and automation across systems.


Technology Monitoring & Infrastructure


·        Set up and maintain a centralised network and technology monitoring platform.


·        Integrate and monitor multiple technology nodes, including:


o   Network infrastructure


o   Victron power systems


o   Radio communication systems


o   Garmin devices


o   Other operational technology platforms


Reporting & Analytics


·        Create comprehensive conservation technology reports using aggregated data sources.


·        Analyse infrastructure performance and generate actionable operational insights.


·        Develop dashboards and monitoring tools where required.


IoT Design & Deployment


·        Design, configure, and deploy IoT devices for conservation use cases, including:


o   Water monitoring sensors


o   Fuel monitoring systems


o   Weather monitoring devices


o   Environmental sensing technologies


·        Support field implementation and troubleshooting.


Project Management


·        Manage technology-related projects, including:


o   System upgrades


o   Proof-of-concept initiatives


o   Technology rollouts


·        Coordinate with internal stakeholders and field teams to ensure successful delivery.




Requirements 


Minimum Requirements


Education

• BSc Computer Science, or BEng (Software Engineering / Electronic Engineering.
  
• Candidates with BCom or BSc Information Technology degrees may be considered provided strong software development capability is demonstrated.
  
  

Technical Skills (Must-Have)

• Strong programming ability (preferably Python).
  
• Experience building data pipelines or system integrations.
  
• Understanding of networking concepts and distributed systems.
  
• Experience integrating hardware or external data sources.
  
• Knowledge of IoT systems and device communication principles.
  
• Ability to troubleshoot technical systems in field environments.

• IoT deployment or embedded systems exposure.
  
• Network monitoring tools and telemetry systems.
  
• Working with power monitoring or remote infrastructure technologies.
