About the position
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Developer to join our dynamic IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimising IT systems, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and aligned with business needs. This role requires a hands-on developer who can analyse current systems, provide technical solutions, and deliver high-quality software while adhering to best practices and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Code changes, fixes, integrations, and new systems to run efficiently and securely.
- Build modular, scalable programs optimised for re-use, re-engineering, and redevelopment.
- Maintain standards of good practice through structured procedures, well-documented source code, and comprehensive documentation.
- Ensure systems comply with relevant authorities, quality standards, and legislation (e.g., POPIA).
- Develop systems supporting Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Recovery planning.
- Perform Development, Unit Testing, Regression, Negative, Functional, and Integration testing.
- Ensure successful implementations, upgrades, and system changes.
- Keep up to date with technical and industry developments.
Systems Analysis:
- Analyse current information systems architecture to optimise, improve, and enhance systems.
- Design scalable and flexible systems based on business requirements and practices.
- Draft technical specifications and work closely with stakeholders to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction.
- Maintain solutions architecture and technical documentation.
- Produce accurate technical effort estimates.
2nd Line IT Support:
- Adhere to IT Department SLAs for incident and request resolution.
- Provide 2nd line support for supported systems and oversee escalations to internal or external resources.
- Analyse customer feedback and proactively adapt IT services to meet needs.
After Hours Support:
- Provide rotational after-hours support for incidents within SLA.
- Coordinate escalation to internal teams or external third parties when required.
- Manage and oversee after-hours incidents effectively.
Technical Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with C#, .NET, Angular, SQL, Azure / Azure DevOps, CouchDB.
- Matric plus National Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, majoring in Software Development.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in systems development.
- Code B Driver’s License.
