About the position
Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
Develop and maintain software solutions on Linux platforms.
Utilize GitHub Actions for continuous integration and deployment.
Write and maintain scripts in Python for automation and process improvement.
Manage authentication and access using PBIS and LDAP.
Configure and manage automounter and netgroups for efficient network file system access.
Participate in Scrum teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Use Grafana for monitoring and improving application performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and operation.
Provide technical support and guidance to team members.
Ensure adherence to best practices and industry standards.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reliability.
Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation.
Reviewing existing playbooks and advising and adapting these playbooks.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years experience in software or operations engineering, particularly with Linux systems.
Minimum of 3 years of IT software development experience.
Essential Skills:
Proficiency in Linux operating systems, preferably SLES.
Strong programming skills in Python.
Expertise in LDAP directory services such as 389DS etc.
Experience NFS and CIFS protocols (eg: automounter, netgroups for network file systems).
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Advantageous Skills:
Knowledge of Perl, with a decreasing emphasis in future projects.
Understanding of advanced networking concepts.
Experience with continuous integration and deployment practices.
Knowledge of cloud platforms and services.
Understanding of IT security best practices.
Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
Experience with GitHub, particularly GitHub Actions.
Understanding of Scrum methodologies for agile project management.
Familiarity with application performance monitoring, specifically Grafana.
Experience with infrastructure as code tools and configuration as code.
AAP experience, including the writing of playbooks.
Be able to troubleshoot issues with PBIS for authentication and access management.
