About the position
Our client, a prestigious professional services organization, is seeking a people-focused Software Support & Training Specialist to join their IT Department in Cape Town. This is NOT a technical IT role – it's a unique opportunity for someone who loves training others, has excellent software skills, and enjoys making technology accessible to everyone.
Important: This role focuses on user training and software support, not technical troubleshooting.
What You'll Do
Training & User Support (Primary Focus)
- Conduct training sessions on MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Train staff on internal legal applications including iManage/Filesite and Aderant
- Assess user skill levels and provide tailored software training
- Create and maintain user-friendly support documentation and guides
- Help staff become confident and proficient with software tools
Daily Support Activities
- Respond to software-related queries via email, helpdesk system, and phone
- Assist users with MS Office, iManage/Worksite, and other application questions
- Support boardroom, Teams, and meeting room technology connections
- Provide software support across Cape Town and Stellenbosch offices
- Occasionally support staff at other national locations
Documentation & Administration
- Publish clear, accessible supporting documentation for various systems
- Maintain connection calendars for meeting rooms
- Ensure compliance with company regulations and standards

Essential Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
- 1-2 years experience in customer service or end-user support
- Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) - this is critical
- Previous experience assisting end users with software applications
- Friendly, patient, and approachable personality
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
Highly Advantageous:
- Previous training or teaching experience
- iManage/Filesite or legal software knowledge
- Legal secretary or law firm experience
