SOCIAL FACILITATOR (Community Engagement and Liaison) to be based in Plumstead, Cape Town
Employment Type: 5-year contract with the possibility of renewal

Our client in the Environmental Consulting space is looking for a Social Facilitator to lead inclusive communication between local communities, councillors, and project teams.
The purpose of this role is to ensure that affected communities are informed, consulted, and empowered throughout the lifecycle of key environmental projects. Your work will include facilitating dialogue, gathering community insights through micro-profiling, and helping build trusted relationships across stakeholders.

THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE ARE:
- VALID MATRIC/GRADE 12 CERTIFICATE, WITH PROVEN EXPERIENCE in community engagement, social facilitation, and project coordination
- STRONG INTERPERSONAL AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS, with confidence engaging diverse communities and liaising with local officials
- PPOFICIENCY IN DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS, including community profiling, reporting, and drawing actionable insights
- FLUENCY IN BOTH ENGLISH AND AFRIKAANS
- VALID DRIVERS LICENCE AND OWN RELIABLE VEHICLE, with the ability to travel throughout Cape Town as needed.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Community Engagement & Facilitation: Organise and lead dialogues, workshops, and meetings to gather input, build trust, and promote inclusive participation.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Build strong working relationships with ward councillors, sub-councils, and other local role players to ensure smooth collaboration.
- Community Profiling & Data Collection: Conduct micro-profiling to understand the demographics, needs, challenges, and unique dynamics of the communities we serve.
- Information Dissemination: Plan and manage outreach efforts, including leaflet drops and other communication methods, to keep communities informed and up to date.
- Team Leadership: Coordinate activities with internal teams and guide field staff (such as ground workers) to ensure that engagement efforts are well-executed and aligned with project goals.
- Flexibility: Be available for after-hours or weekend sessions when needed to ensure accessibility and meet community availability.
As a Social Facilitator, you’ll play a key role in making sure communities are informed, involved, and empowered throughout each stage of our projects.
