About the position
My client based in Cape Town is currently looking for a Senior Systems Analyst to join their team on a contract basis.
IT / FINANCE
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant IT Degree, Diploma, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in systems analysis or related IT roles
- Senior-level experience as a Systems Analyst in digital environments
- Strong knowledge of systems analysis methodologies and SDLC frameworks (Agile and/or Waterfall)
- Proven experience with digital platforms, integrations, and customer-facing systems
- Exposure to large, complex organisations
- Familiarity with:
- Archimate and UML modelling
- UX design and prototyping
- Object-oriented design and relational databases
- Integration technologies (REST, SOAP, JSON, web services, messaging middleware)
- Application development lifecycle, release management, and system support
- Experience working in Agile delivery teams and digital transformation initiatives
- Experience in financial services or insurance environments is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Analyse business requirements and translate them into clear functional and technical specifications
- Define, document, and maintain system requirements and blueprints
- Assess impact of application changes and system releases
- Maintain traceability between business requirements and delivered solutions
- Serve as a liaison between business and technology teams across the SDLC
- Support solution design aligned with enterprise architecture
- Review solution designs for consistency and avoidance of duplication
- Collaborate with integration teams to define and implement interfaces and data exchanges
- Ensure systems are implemented according to requirements and architectural standards
- Participate in system and integration testing, providing feedback and recommendations
- Support implementation and post-implementation activities
- Manage creation and handover of system and administration documentation
- Contribute to post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
- Identify risks, dependencies, and issues; contribute to mitigation plans
- Ensure compliance with IT governance, audit requirements, and development standards
- Provide input into cost estimates and delivery planning
- Recommend improvements to system quality, processes, and service delivery
- Support existing systems and resolve user queries where required
- Share knowledge and mentor team members
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify optimisation and innovation opportunities
