About the position

Our client is looking for a Slitter Machine Operator to join their team, they manufacture Labelling and Packaging.

Requirements:

Matric
Clear Criminal Record
Minimum 2-year experience as a Slitter Machine Operator.







Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate slitting machinery safely and efficiently.
• Read and interpret work orders, production schedules, and specifications.
• Load raw materials onto the machine and ensure proper alignment.
• Adjust machine settings such as blade positions, tension controls, and cutting widths.
• Monitor production runs to ensure quality standards are maintained.
• Inspect finished products for defects, dimensions, and accuracy.
• Remove and replace cutting blades when required.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning.
• Record production data, downtime, and quality control results.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and company policies.
• Report equipment malfunctions or quality issues to supervisors.
• Assist with packaging and labeling finished products when required.

Experience

• Previous experience operating slitting, converting, or manufacturing machinery preferred.
• Experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of quality control processes and production standards.

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to read and follow technical instructions and production orders.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, rulers, and micrometers.
• Basic computer skills for recording production information.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move materials (typically up to 25–50 kg, depending on company requirements).
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise and moving machinery.

Safety Requirements

• Knowledge of machine safety procedures and lockout/tagout practices.
• Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work area.
