About the position
PURPOSE STATEMENT
To ensure world class training within the Brands. To ensure the culture, ethics, core values as well as standards & procedures are conveyed to all New and existing Franchisees and their staff.
MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement and track the training pathways for baristas, until certification.
- Ensures the integrity of all record keeping is accurate, current, uploaded and accessible.
- Checks on the accuracy of the POE. Assess and conduct practical assessments with the learners and sign off competencies. Assess baristas and Restaurant Management.
- Track and ensure certification is achieved within the timelines as per the training pathways.
- Conduct on the job training with baristas, Restaurant managers and Area managers. Maintains brand standards via Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Training incoming employees about the correct use of coffee equipment, such as an espresso machine, and be able to train/coach on how to make drinks according to the brand standards
- Restaurant training Interventions are communicated and aligned with Franchise Manager. Alignment on brand SOPs are formed during workshops with training and operations.
- Takes ownership of training baristas and restaurant managers of a new restaurant. Schedule follow up visits in training restaurants.
- Understand the fundamentals of leading a shift within the barista area and showcase how to execute excellent consumer experience.
- Improvements with each restaurant visit is achieved. A culture of support is conveyed.
- Represent the brand well and be a coffee expert (SME).
- Complete assessments as per the operations campaign and Service Level Agreement for all Brands by supporting the key driver: Coffee.
- Facilitates workshops to close barista's gaps and uses a variety of activities to keep learners engaged.
- Mentors new coffee trainers and new Franchise Managers
- Displays impeccable time keeping, arrives on time for meetings. Excellent personal appearance and represents the brand.
- Complete feedback reports with each store visit.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
FORMAL EDUCATION
- Completed Matric / Grade 12.
- Certificate / Diploma in Hospitality Management or similar qualification.
- Formal Training qualification (Facilitator, Assessor, and Moderator) would be an advantage.
EXPERIENCE
- 3- 5 years' experience in a Trainer or similar capacity.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in the coffee industry as a Barista
- Previous training experience at in-store level within a leading service-based (food service or franchising) organisation.
- Valid driver's license.
- Willing and/or able to travel extensively.
- Willingness and ability to work long hours and weekends based on operational requirements.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Must have completed the Famous Brands Coffee training.
- Must possess excellent computer skills and be proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Possess an outgoing, friendly personality and the desire to provide quality service.
- Reviewing customer service requirements and guiding incoming professionals regarding the correct way to take orders and converse with patrons.
- Work Experience within the coffee industry
- Good knowledge of operational process and food handling/safety aspects.
- Subject matter expert with brand SOP's.
- Knowledge of various training methodologies and ability to apply in the workplace.
- Ability to pay attention to detail with good recordkeeping and organizational skills.
- Ability to engage, motivate and coach learners.
- Displays impeccable time keeping.
- Displays excellent personal appearance and upholds brand ethos.
- Demonstrates high levels of agility and innovation to adopt new learning and teaching concepts.
