About the position

Postion Summary:
The SKA-Mid Inventory and Logistics Officer is responsible for establishing, managing and improving the warehousing and logistics at the SKA-Mid facilities at Science Operations Centre (SOC) in Cape Town and the Engineering Operations Centre (EOC) in Klerefontein, Carnarvon, Northern Cape. Frequent travel between the two sites will be required. The SKA-Mid Inventory and Logistics Officer will be responsible for managing and controlling the engineering materials, spare parts and maintenance consumables inventory and the engineering purchasing workflow. The primary goal is to maximize equipment reliability, availability and maintainability.

Minimum Qualification:
  • Bachelors Degree / Advanced Diploma / NQF 7

Minimum Experience:
  • 5-8 years
  • B-Tech Engineering in Supply Chain Management or similarNational Diploma in Supply Chain Management or similarN5 Certificate in Supply Chain Management or similar AND Valid driver's license

Experience:
  • BTech qualification coupled with 5 years’ related experience in Supply Chain Management, Contract and/or risk management or,National Diploma coupled with 6 years’ related experience in Supply Chain Management, Contract and/or risk management or,N5 coupled with 8 years’ related experience in Supply Chain Management, Contract and/or risk managementKnowledge of PFMA and Supply Chain Management legislation

Knowledge:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general corporate business practices, government and supply chain regulations and principles and sub-contracting practices in either engineering or construction environments
  • Good understanding of procurement principles in the public sectorGood team player with the ability to work and interact at senior levels
  • High levels of judgement and ethical standards
  • Must be able to and have experience in finances, people, project teams and contracts
  • Must be attentive to detail and accuracy
  • Competent in Microsoft applicationsAdvanced knowledge of computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) software or similar (advantageous)
