Site Supervisor

About the position

Our client in the mining and explosives sector is seeking a capable and safety-focused Site Supervisor to manage day-to-day operations at a production site. This role requires strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills in a high-risk environment. This is a contract position based in Global - Lesotho. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

• Lead a team responsible for the safe and efficient supply of bulk explosives.
• Ensuring compliance with safety, operational, and quality standards.
• Ensure the daily safety and wellbeing of all site personnel.
• Plan production activities and coordinate raw material procurement.
• Manage maintenance and availability of all site equipment.
• Handle HR-related matters, including timekeeping, performance, and discipline.
• Investigate and report on incidents and near misses.
• Oversee daily site problem-solving and operational decision-making.
• Maintain magazine control and compliance with explosives storage regulations.
• Conduct and coordinate staff training and development.
• Ensure site cleanliness and adherence to good housekeeping standards.
• Compile and manage Contractor/Safety Packs and related documentation.

Requirements:

• Must have Grade 12 / Matric
• Basic computer literacy (Essential)
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory role
• Must have 5 years' experience in the open cast mining or explosives industry
• Proven track record in people management and team leadership
• Proficient with computer systems and reporting tools
• Must have Code 08 Driver's License
• Code 10 License (Advantageous)
• Open Cast Blasting Certificate (Advantageous)
• Qualified Trade Certificate (Advantageous)
