About the position

Postion Summary:
This role manages on-site safety, security, and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) controls, acting as a key liaison between project teams and stakeholders. Responsibilities include enforcing regulations, managing infringements, and conducting site inspections to mitigate risks. The person may also serve as or report to the RFI Controls Officer, ensuring minimal interference with sensitive scientific equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with on-site stakeholders on Safety, Security and RFI Related Matters
  • Monitor and distribute relevant alerts raised with Operations and RFI Alerts channelsCoordinate and communicate unplanned activities in cases of emergency with all relevant stakeholdersInvestigation of RFI detection events from FMSIssue infringements based on Safety, Security and RFI restrictions or non-adherence to Safety, Security and RFI controlsMonitor and control the enforcement of general Safety, Security and RFI restrictions
  • Provide risk assessments to Safety, Security and RFI team and SARAO management on ongoing and upcoming activities
  • Support mitigation strategies with applicable and actionable control procedures
  • Represent the RFI and Operations teams on general on-site mattersSupport RFI and Operations teams with procurement and other SCM mattersOversee the construction and installation of RFI and Operations infrastructure on behalf of the RFI and Operations teams

Minimum Qualification:
  • Diploma / Advanced Certificate / NQF 6

Minimum Experience:
  • 5-5 years
  • Degree/Diploma in an Operations/Business administration field 5 years relevant experienceORCertificate in Business/Operations/Quality Management and certifications in auditing and/or compliance management 8 years relevant experience

Experience:
  • 5 years’ experience working in construction safety or other compliance management fieldExperience in supporting stakeholder engagement, procurement, and risk management activitiesExperience in auditing activities according to specific standards/regulations

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of procurement, contract management and working with contractorsKnowledge of working within and controlling well-regulated environments
  • Practical knowledge with using Microsoft Office Suite (or other similar software suites)
