About the position
Our client in the mining industry is looking for a Site Operations Manager to oversee safe, efficient, and compliant site operations in Limpopo. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple aspects of the explosives supply chain, ensuring operational excellence, and leading teams to achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to organizational strategy by understanding key strategic drivers and providing input during annual planning.
- Develop departmental strategy aligned to business objectives and secure approval annually.
- Translate strategy into operational plans, including KPIs, project goals, and resource allocation.
- Track and report performance, identifying gaps and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with local laws, corporate standards, and sustainability principles.
- Develop, implement, and enforce departmental policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Monitor process efficiency, system utilization, and compliance, driving continuous improvement.
- Maintain regulatory knowledge and ensure internal processes reflect up-to-date requirements.
- Oversee day-to-day mine site operations, including scheduling, logistics, inventory management, and procurement.
- Manage fleet performance, maintenance, and compliance.
- Ensure safe storage, handling, and distribution of explosives, adhering to FIFO and hazardous materials protocols.
- Implement SOX controls, conduct audits, and maintain operational records.
- Prepare annual budgets and monitor monthly expenditure against targets.
- Identify variances and implement cost controls to optimize operational spend.
- Maintain departmental risk and disaster recovery frameworks.
- Proactively identify operational risks, non-compliance, and implement corrective measures.
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations.
- Provide training, monitor SHE practices, and resolve non-compliance promptly.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage service provider performance and address any gaps effectively.
- Recruit, develop, and manage staff performance in line with EE targets.
- Ensure appropriate resourcing, employee development, and enforce HR policies.
Requirements
- BCom / BTech in Supply Chain, Business Management, Logistics, or similar
- Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management or related (advantageous)
- 7+ years' experience in supply chain explosives
- 3+ years' experience in explosives value chain and Supply Chain Outbound
- 5+ years' people management experience
- Must have driver's license
