Purpose of the Role
Our client is seeking two Site Managers to take responsibility for leading and managing all operational activities on site. The role requires compliance with legal, safety, and environmental standards while driving performance, efficiency, and cost control. The successful candidate will be a strong leader with proven experience in hard rock opencast mining, capable of managing multidisciplinary teams and maintaining effective client and stakeholder relationships.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Site Manager in hard rock opencast mining.
- Surface Blasting Ticket with at least 3 years' experience in hard rock mining as a Contracts Manager.
- Competency A certification.
- Diploma or relevant qualification in Mining or Civil Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective operational plans.
- Ensure maintenance schedules are adhered to and breakdowns corrected timeously.
- Conduct VFL visits and enforce safety programmes and controls.
- Maintain effective budgetary control and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Oversee site housekeeping standards and compliance with environmental requirements.
- Prepare and submit client and mining reports, plant hours, availability/utilisation records, and diesel consumption reports.
- Manage drilling and blasting operations with strict compliance to safety and efficiency standards.
- Conduct on-the-job training and coaching, ensuring staff competency and development.
- Liaise with clients daily and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
