About the position
The role of the Shipchandling Specialist is to efficiently manage and process all Shipchandling enquiries from sourcing through to delivery and invoicing and follow up on all potential Shipchandling activity in our territory to grow this activity within the Group of companies
Primary Functions:
- Receive and analyse enquiries received from clients (specification matching, etc.)
- Strategic sourcing of suppliers & products (locally and internationally) via our database, market research, Internet, etc.
- Get all the necessary information to be able to quote the client utilising mark up and foreign exchange conversion
- Follow up on quotations done to secure orders, manage all queries and negotiate with clients
- Place and administer orders
- Liaison with suppliers to ensure smooth delivery process
- Inspections of products (compliance, quality, packaging, etc,.)
- Establish Packing List, invoice
- Be present at loading of goods and delivery to ships
- Regular marketing to retain existing relationships and establish new relationships within the industry (i.e. ship captains, etc.)
- Proposals of processes to streamline the Shipchandling Division to be as efficient and customer friendly as possible
- Any other duty that is reasonable and relevant to this position
Secondary Functions :
- Business development in Cape Town and in South Africa/Namibia, promoting our activity and name throughout the region to grow our trade
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years experience as a shipchandler
- Must be able to work in a high pressure environment
- Multi tasking with a great level of accuracy
- Solution driven
- High energy in fast pace environment
- Excellent communicator
