About the position
A well-established, market leader in the industrial equipment industry is looking for a SHEQ Risk Officer to join their Chloorkop-based team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow in a company that invests in their employees.
As the SHEQ Risk Officer, you will ensure the organization complies with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. The role includes risk assessments, incident investigations, audits, and continuous improvement of SHEQ practices across sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile and manage safety files and documentation for clients and tenders.
- Conduct pre-implementation and ongoing risk assessments at sites, including contractor compliance checks.
- Recommend and monitor corrective actions for non-conformances (NCRs).
- Conduct and attend SHEQ-related meetings, including management and committee meetings.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; compile and submit reports.
- Maintain emergency preparedness through drills and equipment inspections.
- Develop and review emergency procedures and evacuation plans.
- Deliver SHE inductions and ensure ongoing training compliance.
- Audit site conditions and contractor performance; escalate repeat non-conformance.
- Create and implement Safe Work Procedures and monitor adherence.
- Maintain ISO 9001:2015 and ISO [Phone Number Removed]; documentation and compliance.
- Provide detailed audit reports, corrective actions, and follow-ups.
- Maintain and update SHEQ administrative records.
- Support SHEQ Risk Manager with documentation, standards reviews, and ISO implementation across business units.
- Ensure health and safety compliance with regulatory authorities.
- Carry out any additional SHEQ-related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- National Senior Certificate / Matric
- National Diploma or equivalent in SHE
- ISO 9001:2015 and ISO [Phone Number Removed]; knowledge
- National Diploma or equivalent in Quality Management Systems
- Competency in Risk Assessment and Incident Investigation (advantageous)
- 2-3 years in Safety, Health, Environment & Quality in an industrial environment
- Familiarity with contractor safety performance monitoring
- Experience in implementing ISO standards
- Health and Safety documentation experience
