About the position

Responsible for managing all OHS and Environmental related items on site and to ensure compliance with OHS and NEMA Act. Responsible for all Risk related items on site and to ensure compliance. Maintain a register of all registrations, inspections and surveys that needs to be conducted and ensure that these items are executed.

Reports to Group SHEQ Manager (and indirectly to Site Manager).

Requirements:

• Grade 12 + Certification
• 2-3 years' relevant experience
• SAMTRAC
• Risk Assessments
• Incident investigation
• Knowledge of ISO Management Systems

Role Competencies:

• FMCG, Manufacturing sector experience advantageous
• Above average written/oral communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Report writing skills

Position Responsibilities:

• Advise the Group SHEQ Manager and Site Manager on all HSE related matters
• Conduct Hazard Identification and risk assessment, recommend risk mitigating controls to the management team
• Evaluate effectiveness of the implemented controls
• Manage the Company's impact on the environment by gathering and analysing environmental impact data
• Ensure compliance to all aspects of the NEMA Act and regulations
• Maintain the company's compliance register with regards to all OHS, Environmental issues, and Municipal bylaws
• Ensure all employees, visitors and contractors on site are inducted
• Ensure employees are conducting SHEQ inspections on site monthly and SHEQ meetings are conducted monthly
• Ensure Toolbox talks are conducted monthly, and registers are kept on file
• Arrange with Site Manager for training of employees and develop a skills matrix
• Ensure employees are conducting inspections and filling out registers
• Ensure all legal appointments are made and up to date
• Ensure all PPE stock issued is recorded on issue registers
• Maintain Audit schedule and ensure all findings are closed out
• Ensure non-conformances are logged and investigations are documented
• Ensure all contractor safety files are audited and approved before work commences
• Conduct accident investigations and determine the root cause of the problems
• Ensure fire drills are conducted
