About the position
Introduction
This role reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for ensuring that the Health, Safety and Environmental systems are followed accordingly to the RFG standards quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
Duties & Responsibilities
• To compile and manage the SHE Plan.
• Conduct risk identification, evaluation, and development of safe work procedures.
• Conduct or have conducted a risk and hazard analysis and take the necessary corrective action.
• Ensure Health and Safety Representatives are appointed.
• Ensure Safety Meetings are held regularly, and the results recorded.
• Ensure Contractors comply with the Health and Safety Specifications.
• Establishment of the Fall Protection Plan.
• Establish the reporting system to be undertaken during construction and ensure effective reporting to management on the deviations identified and required action to be taken.
• Ensure monthly Safety, Health and Environmental reports are submitted to the GM.
• Ensure EMP compliance.
• Ensure training needs are identified and implemented.
• Conduct the Induction training.
• Daily routine checks in all departments regarding SHE and FSI.
• Inspection of First Aid boxes and replenish.
• Conduct SHE audits and assist with Food safety audits as and when required.
• Ensure all accidents are properly recorded, reported, and investigated.
• To compile the security policies for the company.
• To ensure security guards are always managed.
• To be the liaison between the company and the security company contracted.
• To conduct weekly inspections and ensure all SHE standards are adhered to.
• Establish and maintain policies and procedures.
• Supervise waste and effluent management.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Knowledge and Skills Requirements for the Position
• Experience in a manufacturing environment will be advantageous.
• Must work independently, and outside of the box to provide innovative ideas to improve processes.
• Computer literacy (MS Office - Word/EXCEL/Outlook/Syspro).
• Must be analytical and technically inclined.
• Ability to work with people in a production/plant environment.
• Have excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Knowledge of industrial hygiene, policy, and occupational safety is preferred.
Qualifications Required for the Position
• Grade 12 Education level or equivalent.
• Tertiary qualification in Safety management / Environmental health.
