Introduction
The position of SharePoint Developer is vacant. The SharePoint Developer role will report directly to the Senior Manager: Application Development and forms part of the ICT Division. The position is permanent and will be based at GEMS Head Office.
Overview:
The SharePoint Developer role is responsible for developing, configuring, enhancing, and supporting Microsoft SharePoint Online and related Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms. This includes designing custom and configuration-based solutions, integrating SharePoint with other enterprise systems, ensuring platform security and access control, and providing advanced technical support. The position requires strong technical proficiency in SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, and web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS, with additional skills in .NET, REST APIs, and Power Platform being advantageous. The ideal candidate is analytical, adaptable, and self-motivated, capable of supporting user adoption and ensuring efficient, secure, and collaborative digital workspaces across the organisation.
The total remuneration package for this position is between R954,930 and R 1,193,734 per annum, based on qualifications and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities
The SharePoint Developer is responsible for the development, configuration, enhancement, deployment, and ongoing support of Microsoft SharePoint Online and related Microsoft 365 collaboration solutions. The role supports the Senior Manager: Application Development and works closely with business users and ICT teams to ensure secure, reliable, and well-adopted collaboration platforms. This will be achieved through the implementation of the following Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
- Configure, customize, and maintain SharePoint Online solutions in line with business requirements.
- Develop and enhance SharePoint solutions using modern SharePoint practices, including configuration-first and custom development where required.
- Support solution deployments across development, test, and production environments in line with approved release and change processes.
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance, including proactive monitoring and performance optimization.
- Design and support integrations between SharePoint Online and other Microsoft 365 and enterprise applications.
- Configure and manage permissions, access controls, and security settings within SharePoint Online.
- Collaborate with ICT Infrastructure and Security teams on identity, access, and platform governance.
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for SharePoint-related incidents and enhancements.
- Support user adoption and productivity through documentation, training, and knowledge transfer.
- Assist with collaboration enablement across SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft 365.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualification Requirements
- Minimum a 3-year Degree, Diploma, or NQF Level 6 Qualification in Information Technology or other relevant qualification
- Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate (PL-400)
- Minimum 2-3 years of substantial hands-on application development skills, including mobile application development platforms, would be advantageous.
- Proven experience with SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365.
