About the position
A leading industrial automation and process control solutions company is looking for an experienced Service Technician with strong experience in process control valves, instrumentation, and after-sales technical support to join their team in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. This client-facing role involves servicing and repairing process control equipment, providing technical support to customers, travelling to customer sites across South Africa and occasionally neighbouring Southern African countries, and ensuring workshop operations meet quality standards. The successful candidate should be technically skilled, able to work independently, and committed to delivering excellent customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site fault finding, servicing, maintenance, and repair of process control valves and instrumentation equipment.
- Assemble, service, and repair equipment in the workshop according to manufacturer standards.
- Travel locally and to neighbouring Southern African countries to perform service work when required.
- Prepare job cards for spare parts, service hours, and detailed fault-finding reports.
- Prepare quotations for spare parts and service work.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation on the company system.
- Ensure the workshop is maintained in a clean and orderly condition in accordance with ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Ensure workshop tools and equipment are maintained and reviewed regularly.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional after-sales support.
- Attend product and technical training as required.
Requirements:
- National Diploma or N6 in Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
- 10–15 years' experience in process control equipment, instrumentation, and control.
- Strong experience working with industrial control valves is essential.
- Previous experience in a client-facing technical service or field service role.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including occasional travel within Southern Africa.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage customer relationships effectively.
- Strong troubleshooting, fault-finding, and reporting skills.
