About the position
The Service Technician for Masc Solutions in the Service Team is a position that require a capable and competent as well as a well experienced Technician who can commission and do detailed fault finding to establish root course problems and resolve the site issues. They will do call-outs and assist Project Teams on different sites with different types of electronic equipment to do fault finding and installations. They will also assist with commissioning and testing of the sites including software and hardware configuration. Primary communication will be with the service and project teams. The completion of documentation, service and maintenance procedures, as well as the effective storage of Access/CCTV/Fire credentials for sites and equipment.

- Be proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools and be able to supervise the use thereof in his environment.
- Knowledge of basic electricity and the ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, troubleshoot, and repair computer-controlled equipment, such as Fire Detection & Gas Suppression systems.
- Work independently.
- Also have superior customer communications skills to understand technical issues and effectively communicate the corrective actions that will be taken, to operate a variety of control, audio, visual equipment.
- Process and maintain all associated paperwork in relation to the hand over code of practice and to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of all information obtained within the installed equipment, whether written, verbal, or by any other means.
- Develop self and always maintain knowledge in relevant field.
- The Service Technician must be qualified to perform inspection work and follow the needed repair work through to its conclusion.
- Install and maintain Fire Detection & Gas Suppression Systems. Trouble shoot systems using visual inspection, specialized equipment and/or architectural plans/diagrams; replace defective components and wiring and adjust or repair mechanical parts.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12
- OEM Training Certifications – Kidde / Ziton, Aritech, Advanced, Zytech, Notifier
- SAQCC Registered – Installer / Commissioner
- Ability to fluently speak, read and write English
- 3-4 years’ experience as a Service Technician – Fire Detection & Gas Suppression
- Computer literate
- Three years plus experience in Fire Detection / Gas Suppression technology and related products, services, systems, hardware and software
- PSIRA registered
- Valid driver’s license – EB
