SENIOR STRUCTURAL STEEL & ALUMINIUM ESTIMATOR

About the position

A well-established structural steel, aluminium and stainless steel fabrication and supply company based in Mount Edgecombe is looking for an experienced Senior Structural Steel & Aluminium Estimator to join its successful team.

This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate project costing, profitability and successful project execution from tender stage through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project drawings and specifications.
• Prepare accurate project estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Complete quantity take-offs from drawings and site measurements.
• Develop detailed material, labour, subcontractor and equipment costings.
• Prepare project programmes and cash flow forecasts.
• Compile and submit tender documentation.
• Monitor project profitability and commercial viability.
• Manage interim claims, contract variations and final accounts.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and project stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

• BTech in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related qualification.
• Minimum 10 years' estimating experience within the structural steel, aluminium or construction industry.
• Proven experience in end-to-end project management and estimating.
• Strong knowledge of BOQ development, project costing and tender preparation.
• Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen.
• Understanding of construction methodologies and project implementation.
• Experience sourcing materials, subcontractors and plant requirements.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Professional presentation with excellent communication skills.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team
