About the position

The role supports Polmed's legal and regulatory compliance by analysing policy and regulatory developments to ensure that the scheme responds adequately and provides input into the compliance charter to ensure that it effectively guides the scheme in discharging its mandate with integrity, whilst maintaining the highest compliance and ethical standards. It is responsible for completion of statutory forms/returns and reporting under the Companies Act and other relevant legislation/regulation.
Role outputs include:

  • Performs complex research, data analysis, and impact studies on policy, regulatory and legislative developments impacting on the scheme and supports the scheme in responding to such developments; Maintains knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations impacting the scheme through research, benchmarking and evaluation of implementation within the scheme;
  • Embeds compliance with all key legislation and regulations within the scheme;
  • Designs and conducts compliance reviews, to establish improvement areas across Polmed's value chain;
  • Develops and implements compliance improvement programs;
  • Reports on compliance monitoring;
  • Implements fraud, waste and abuse processes in line with FWA prevention strategy and guidelines;
  • Develops and delivers communication, awareness and training for members and providers on fraud, waste and abuse;
  • Conduct unit budgeting and institute associated control measures;
  • Maximize resources to optimise people capabilities;
  • Reviews and drafts progressive Policies & Procedures to support the achievement of Polmed strategy and ensure compliance to relevant legislation and regulations;
  • Executes in adherence to all relevant regulatory and business practices;
  • Active risk management by applying and promoting a culture of ongoing detection and resolution of Statutory, Regulatory Compliance breaches
  • Live and exemplify the Polmed values; and
  • Develop and execute programmes and mechanisms to socialize, promote and measure the Polmed behaviours to embed a positive organisational culture
  • Qualifications and Experience
    Minimum Requirements:
  • NQF 7 Degree qualification in Law
  • Postgraduate qualification in Corporate Law or Compliance
  • 6 - 7 years' experience and exposure in working in the healthcare sector and regulatory bodies e.g., Council of Medical Scheme
  • 4 - 5 years management experience
