About the position

Postion Summary:
Reporting to the Head: People and Culture, the position will support the People & Culture Team by providing integrated employee relations solutions and services. The role will assist in formulating and tactically implementing the Group Employee Relations strategy within the NRF.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement ways to reduce ER and commercial risk cost-effectively through collaboration, engagement and innovative thinking
  • Serve as the Group's primary point of contact with Group Risk Legal and Compliance for employment, labour and ER matters pertaining to employment litigation matters, leading review and management of CCMA, Labour Court and Labour Appeal Court and matters
  • Contribute to the development of Employee Relation engagement strategy
  • Maintain and monitor standardised Employee Relations processes and policies
  • Maintain updated business documents of all Employee relations requirements
  • Maintain a detailed record of all misconduct/grievances across the organisation for reporting purposes
  • Stay abreast of relevant legislative and environmental changes and ensure relevant compliance
  • Manage all negotiations with Unions, including Wages and other substantive negotiations
  • Own and manage organised labour relations across the NRF
  • Participates in all consultation forums involving employee engagement (including the Management Shop Steward Committee (MSSC) and the National Coordinating Bargaining Forum (NCBF)
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of stakeholders’ policies and procedures as well as the application thereof
  • Ensure appropriate up-skilling of the broader HR team, line managers, and shop stewards regarding Employee Relations
  • Keeping abreast of developments in the labour law landscape and developing skills through training and other means, such as seminars, membership to professional bodies and research

Minimum Qualification:
  • Bachelors Degree / Advanced Diploma / NQF 7

Minimum Experience:
  • 5-8 years
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Labour Relations or a related field
  • LLB or Postgraduate qualification in Labour Law will be an added advantage

Knowledge:
  • 5-8 years’ experience in employee relations management in a highly unionised environment
  • Extensive experience as a labour and employment practitioner
  • Strong drafting skills, particularly in employment contracting areas
  • Working knowledge of legal and regulatory environment applicable to government, research, and academic institutes
