About the position
Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Software Developer to lead the evolution of a business-critical software platform. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for high-performance software engineering, modern application architecture and mentoring technical teams while delivering scalable cloud-based solutions.
Responsibilities
- Rewrite and optimise a legacy C++ codebase using a modern high-performance language.
- Extract business logic from PostgreSQL stored procedures into API services.
- Develop and maintain scalable microservices.
- Build robust email processing functionality using MIME standards and regular expressions.
- Collaborate closely with DevOps engineers in an Azure Kubernetes environment.
- Contribute to software architecture and technical decision-making.
- Mentor junior developers and promote engineering best practices.
- Perform code reviews, testing and software optimisation.
- Ensure applications remain secure, scalable and maintainable.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
- 10+ years of commercial software development experience.
- Strong understanding of C++ codebases.
- Proficiency in Rust, Go, Java, C# or another performant language.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and complex SQL.
- API and microservices development experience.
- Familiarity with Azure, Docker and Kubernetes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advantageous
- Master's Degree.
- Experience with SMTP, IMAP and email protocols.
- Cross-language development experience.
- Agile software development.
- Security-focused software engineering practices.
