Senior Scientist

About the position

Our client in the mining industry is seeking a Senior Scientist to drive innovative solutions, manage quality, tackle challenges, and uphold the company's reputation. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

• Implement and monitor unit operations plans, ensuring alignment with projects, KPIs, and stakeholder objectives.
• Track performance, identify anomalies, and execute corrective actions to meet operational goals.
• Oversee business process compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical laboratory and sales support, including testing, formulation, documentation, and client queries.
• Lead research and development projects to enhance efficiency, performance, and product offerings.
• Ensure product stewardship, including SDS management, compliance documentation, and reporting.
• Manage budget and expenditure, ensuring alignment with financial policies.
• Implement and monitor SHE standards, providing training and addressing non-compliance.
• Build and maintain productive stakeholder relationships and manage service provider performance.
• Manage workforce resourcing, supervise staff performance, and support employee development.
• Contribute to departmental sustainability objectives, minimizing environmental impact.

Requirements

• BSc Hons in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (From a reputable institution)
• MSc Chemistry / Chemical Engineering or similar will be an advantage
• 7+ years research and development experience in an explosive/manufacturing laboratory environment
• 5+ years quality testing and reporting experience.
