Well established flavour manufacturer has a vacancy for the abovementioned who will keep abreast of global trends and proactively develop and recommend products to relevant clients/colleagues. This candidate will also develop and formulate new savoury flavours or reformulate existing flavours when flavour profiles changes are required. Develop flavours with raw materials, ingredients and other technology based on current market trends.
Work on internal and external flavour development projects to support customer driven projects, while providing an understanding of international and local taste profiles.
Contact suppliers to request required raw materials for new products and flavours.
Collaborate with the Sensory and Flavour Creation teams in order to keep appraised of new technology and developments within the flavour industry.
Maintain relationships with suppliers, co-workers and customers.
Develop flavours as outlined by a customer brief.
Demonstrate knowledge of basic chemicals, top notes and capsules and have the ability to utilise them in the successful development of flavours.
Oversee first-time production of new flavours or critical flavours in production while resolving and troubleshooting any technical or formula related issues that may arise.
Assist in managing and training (laboratory technicians) in the areas of flavour development, flavour compounding, and basic laboratory procedures.
Update bill of materials (BOM's) on Sage Evolution and cost flavours using same.
Work closely with the teams from Research & Flavour Creation, QC and Sales Representatives to develop successful flavours.
At least 5 years experience working in a food manufacturing laboratory.
Capable of creating finished flavours & flavour systems in multiple formats.
Full working knowledge of all flavour raw materials, flavour profiles, flavour creation & composition.
Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and delivery technologies.
Highly developed project management skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Must be able to identify technical problems related to developing flavours and have the ability to provide resolution of these issues.
Occasional travel by air.
