About the position
Role Purpose
The SAP Senior Integration Consultant (Ab Initio) is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing robust data integration and processing solutions across SAP and non-SAP environments. The role involves translating business requirements into scalable technical designs, leading integration initiatives, ensuring system stability, and providing expert guidance across the data and integration landscape. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in Ab Initio, strong analytical capability, and the ability to influence both technical and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Solution Design & Development
Analyse business and system requirements and translate them into high-quality technical designs.
Design, build, and maintain complex data acquisition, transformation, and processing solutions using Ab Initio.
Develop best-practice integration patterns between SAP and non-SAP systems using Ab Initio and SAP Data Services.
Ensure adherence to coding, configuration, documentation, and security standards.
Conduct unit, system, and user acceptance testing, and support deployments into production.
2. Integration Architecture & Technical Leadership
Act as a functional integration specialist across Ab Initio and SAP ecosystems.
Provide direction on integration architecture, platform usage, and optimisation opportunities.
Highlight dependencies, risks, and issues to project managers and propose mitigation strategies.
Lead problem resolution efforts and drive performance improvements across the integration landscape.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
Partner with business analysts, product owners, and stakeholders to clarify requirements.
Serve as a liaison between technical teams and business users to ensure seamless execution.
Build strong, credible relationships with key client personnel and internal teams.
Provide expert training, knowledge-sharing, and guidance to internal teams and clients.
4. Project Delivery & Governance
Plan and prioritise work to meet project deadlines, budgets, and service-level obligations.
Oversee multiple tasks and projects concurrently, ensuring effective resource and time management.
Apply project management principles to support implementation and cross-project alignment.
Contribute to continuous process improvement and support organisational initiatives, culture, and governance.
5. Continuous Improvement & Industry Insight
Keep abreast of Nedbank strategy, Ab Initio capabilities, and broader integration technologies.
Identify opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and integration patterns.
Provide industry best practices and propose innovative solutions to stakeholders.
Continuously develop technical skills, cross-functional expertise, and business knowledge.
Essential Qualifications
University Degree or Diploma: IT Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
Preferred Certifications
Ab Initio certification (highly advantageous).
Additional integration or data engineering certifications.
Technical Competencies
Deep expertise in the Ab Initio software platform.
Strong understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing, and integration architecture.
Knowledge of SAP and non-SAP integration approaches.
Solid grasp of Agile methodologies and SDLC principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, documentation, and presentation tools.
