About the position
As a Senior Developer, you will be the technical backbone of our SAP environment (spanning S/4HANA and ECC). You will design, develop, and optimise scalable RICEFW solutions while spearheading our SAP Fiori/UI5 UX strategy. Crucially, you will leverage your deep understanding of SAP IS-Retail to bridge the gap between complex business logic and exceptional user experiences.
Key Responsibilities
1. Advanced ABAP Development
- Design, code, and maintain complex ABAP programs (OO-ABAP, reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows).
- Develop and optimise RICEFW objects, BADIs, User Exits, Enhancement Spots, and CDS views.
- Conduct deep-dive performance tuning using SQL Trace, Runtime Analysis, and code profiling tools to handle large retail data volumes.
2. SAP Fiori & UI5 Innovation
- Design and develop custom SAP Fiori applications (transactional, analytical, and fact sheets) using SAPUI5, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
- Implement secure OData services using SAP Gateway (SEGW) and expose backend CDS views.
- Configure and maintain the Fiori Launchpad, including catalogs, groups, and target mappings.
- Utilise SAP Fiori Elements (List Reports, Object Pages) and overview pages for rapid deployment.
3. Retail-Specific Engineering
- Develop bespoke solutions for core retail processes: Merchandise Management, Pricing & Promotions, Inventory Management, POS Integration, and Sales Audit.
- Work confidently with retail data models and tables (e.g., MARA, MARC, WERKS, KONH, WAKT).
- Build and support interfaces connecting SAP to third-party retail applications (WMS, TMS, and pricing engines).
4. Integration, Support & Mentorship
- Integrate SAP with external systems via RFC, IDocs, Web Services (SOAP/REST), Proxies, and Middleware (SAP PI/PO or CPI).
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
- Troubleshoot critical production issues within strict SLA frameworks and support system upgrades/migrations
- Qualifications & Experience
Technical Essentials
- Experience: 8-10 years of total hands-on ABAP development experience.
- Retail Sector Expertise (Non-negotiable): 3-5 years of dedicated experience working on SAP Retail projects (SAP IS-Retail or Retail on S/4HANA).
- Fiori / UI5: Strong, proven track record of building and deploying Fiori apps and building custom OData services.
- Ecosystem Tools: Proficiency with SAP ECC 6.0 / S/4HANA, SAP Gateway, SAP Web IDE / Business Application Studio, Git, and Transport Management System (TMS).
- Data Handling: Expert debugging skills and experience managing massive retail datasets (millions of records, background batch processing).
Modernisation Capabilities (Highly Advantageous)
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA, leveraging Code-to-Data techniques like AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures) and advanced CDS views.
- Familiarity with transitioning from classic ABAP to the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Valid SAP Fiori or SAP ABAP with HANA certification.
- Experience with SAP CAR (Customer Activity Repository), POSDM, or SAP Retail MDG.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Exposure to SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
