Our Client is looking for a Senior Sales Representative to join their team
Location: Germiston
Purpose of the Position
- Seeking an experienced Senior Technical Sales Representative to develop new business and manage existing client relationships within the warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, retail, and distribution sectors.
- The successful candidate must combine strong sales ability with technical aptitude. This is not a desk-based sales position. The successful applicant will visit customer sites, evaluate warehouse requirements, take accurate measurements, assist with storage system design, coordinate with the technical and production departments, and manage projects from initial enquiry through installation and final payment.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Generate new business opportunities.
- Maintain and expand existing customer relationships.
- Identify customer storage requirements and recommend suitable racking and shelving solutions.
- Prepare quotations and proposals.
- Meet monthly and annual sales targets.
Site Surveys
- Conduct detailed warehouse inspections.
- Take accurate site measurements.
- Assess floor layouts, ceiling heights, columns, doors, sprinkler systems, and obstructions.
- Identify installation challenges before quotation.
- Produce accurate site survey reports.
Technical Sales
- Understand customer operational requirements.
- Recommend suitable storage systems including:
- Adjustable Pallet Racking
- Automated Racking
- Bolted & Gondola Shelving
- Cantilever Racking
- Mezzanine Floors
- Industrial Shelving
- Work with the Technical Department to develop storage layouts and drawings.
- Assist with determining suitable load capacities and storage configurations.
- Read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
Measurements & Calculations
The successful candidate must be able to:
- Take accurate warehouse measurements.
- Calculate floor areas and storage capacities.
- Calculate beam levels and bay quantities.
- Understand pallet dimensions.
- Calculate weights and load capacities.
- Work comfortably with measurements in millimetres and metres.
- Perform accurate mathematical calculations without supervision
Project Coordination
- Follow projects from order to completion.
- Liaise with:
- Design Department
- Production Department
- Procurement
- Dispatch
- Installation Teams
- Monitor manufacturing progress.
- Keep customers informed of order status.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time.
Customer Service
- Maintain regular communication with clients.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly.
- Conduct post-installation follow-ups.
- Build long-term customer relationships.
Accounts Follow-up
- Monitor outstanding customer accounts.
- Follow up overdue payments professionally.
- Work closely with the Accounts Department to assist with collections.
Sales Administration
- Prepare quotations.
- Maintain accurate CRM records.
- Submit weekly sales reports.
- Maintain sales pipeline reports.
- Assist with forecasting.
Minimum Requirements
- Education
- Grade 12 (Matric) – Essential.
- Sales qualification advantageous.
Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience in:
- Technical sales.
- Industrial products.
- Warehouse storage systems.
- Racking and shelving (highly advantageous).
- Steel fabrication or engineering industry (advantageous).
Technical Skills
The successful candidate must be able to:
- Read engineering drawings.
- Read warehouse layouts.
- Interpret technical plans.
- Take precise measurements.
- Perform mathematical calculations accurately.
- Understand structural load requirements.
- Use measuring equipment confidently.
Computer Skills

Driver's Licence
- Valid South African Code B driver's licence.

Remuneration
- Negotiable, based on qualifications and experience.
- 13th cheque.
- No sales commission or bonus structure.
- Company tools required to perform the role will be provided (including training in European SEMA Standards, laser measuring equipment, and other required tools).
