About the position

Senior Sales Engineer - Rivonia - Gauteng

Job Specification:
We are seeking a Senior Sales Engineer who has extensive experience in petrochemicals and EPC execution to drive growth and sustainability within the organisation.
A key focus for this position is driving Client engagement to diversify the Client base.
The role includes developing and executing sales strategies for Clients and regions from initial engagement to proposal submission and handover to the project team.
The successful candidate will be required to fulfil the job as summarised below, but not limited to:

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the organisation technology portfolio and project execution models (EP, EPC, EPCM)
  • Increase the brand presence and visibility in the market by attending conferences and producing articles on technology and service offerings for publication
  • Continuously research and analyse markets and opportunities as well as monitor bid sites and platforms
  • Create and maintain professional relationships with new prospective and existing clients as well as internal global stakeholders
  • Ensure sales process and audit compliance by qualifying leads through the appropriate internal reviews and approvals
  • Capturing and management of leads and opportunities on CRM
  • Maintenance of leads and proposals database
  • Leadership of allocated proposals from "Bid No Bid" meeting to contract signature and handover to project management
  • Review tender documents and provide the following:

o Facilitate "Bid no Bid" meeting to obtain bid decision
o Compile bid initiation documents
o Determine submission compliance requirements
o Allocate bid team as per work breakdown structure
o Facilitate bid kick off meeting with the bid team
o Allocate and manage bid budget and bid schedule
o Facilitate the development of a win strategy with the bid team

  • Assess requirements for global the organisation support and / or external contractor support. Coordinate work split between various parties
  • Attend / coordinate Client bid clarification meetings
  • Coordinate, integrate and lead delivery of the solution and inputs to the proposal from all disciplines
  • Coordinate with the relevant disciplines to obtain market quotations for equipment and construction
  • Ensure market quotations are technically and commercially acceptable
  • Facilitate coordination with Engineering, Procurement and Construction to ensure external and internal costs are correct and optimised
  • Coordinate the development and optimisation of the schedule
  • Ensure that resumes, references and method statements are aligned to the tender submission requirements
  • Consolidate inputs and compile estimate
  • Develop compliant tender submission documentation including integration and editing of technical and commercial inputs from internal and external parties

Education and Experience

  • The candidate must be in possession of a BSc / B.Eng / B.Tech / Commercial qualification
  • The candidate must have a minimum of 8 years' relevant experience

Personal Attributes / Skills

  • Knowledge of sustainable technologies market
  • Understanding of the tender and proposals experience
  • General understanding of all engineering, project management, scheduling and construction disciplines and integration thereof
  • General understanding of the project lifecycle and deliverables from concept studies to execution
  • Commercial astuteness and understanding of tendering processes and contractual requirements
  • Project management skills to ensure team leadership and schedule adherence
  • Excellent knowledge of the MS Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work within a team under demanding deadlines in a high stress environment is a prerequisite
