About the position
Data is one of the organisation's most valuable assets. We are seeking an experienced Senior Reference & Master Data Specialist to drive the management, governance, quality, and integrity of enterprise reference and master data.
In this pivotal role, you will partner with business and technology teams to ensure that critical data is accurate, trusted, secure, and fit for purpose. You will play a key role in shaping the organisation's data governance journey while enabling informed decision-making, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Master Data Management
- Own and oversee the lifecycle of master data across key business domains.
- Establish and maintain master data standards, definitions, and controls.
- Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and integrity across multiple systems.
- Identify and resolve complex master data issues and discrepancies.
Reference Data Management
- Manage enterprise reference data frameworks and hierarchies.
- Ensure standardisation and alignment of reference data across business functions.
- Govern data structures, taxonomies, and business rules.
- Monitor and enhance the quality of reference datasets.
Data Governance & Compliance
- Support and drive the implementation of data governance policies and standards.
- Work closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Business Stakeholders to ensure adherence to governance frameworks.
- Contribute to data governance forums and strategic data initiatives.
- Support compliance with regulatory and organisational requirements
- Data Quality Management
- Define, monitor, and report on data quality metrics and KPIs.
- Conduct root-cause analysis of data issues and implement preventative controls.
- Develop and maintain data quality processes and remediation plans.
- Drive continuous data quality improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops and discussions on data standards and governance practices.
- Act as a trusted advisor on reference and master data matters.
- Translate business requirements into practical data management solutions.
Continuous Improvement- Identify opportunities to optimise data management processes and controls.
- Support enterprise data transformation and modernisation initiatives.
- Promote best practices in data governance and data management.
- Champion a culture of data excellence across the organisation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Equivalent qualifications combined with relevant experience will be considered.
Experience Required - Minimum 5-8 years' experience in a Data Management, Master Data Management, Reference Data Management, or Data Governance environment.
- Proven experience managing enterprise-wide data quality initiatives.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, standards, and frameworks.
- Experience working with large and complex data environments.
- Exposure to financial services, banking, insurance, or other regulated industries will be advantageous.
