About the position




Summary of Role

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading complex, high-impact projects from initiation to completion. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while aligning with strategic business objectives. The Senior Project Manager provides leadership to project teams, manages stakeholders, and drives process improvements across the project lifecycle.






Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with stakeholders to document project scope, deliverables, goals, risks, blockers, success measures, and estimated resources needed.
  • Ensures that projects remain in-scope and meet budgetary, scheduling, and quality requirements.
  • Develops, manages, and distributes quality project management artifacts like charters, schedules, budgets, reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Ensures that all project documentation is accurate and up to date in the PMO Toolset as well as project folders.
  • Provides project status updates at predetermined time intervals to all stakeholders.
  • Communicates routinely to management, customers, project team members, and other stakeholders, actively soliciting and addressing customer and project team feedback.
  • Actively manages the RAID log - Identifying, managing, and communicating changes (risks, issues, actions and decisions) that may affect the project.
  • Sets and monitors project budgets and staffing requirements.
  • Ensures adherence to legally binding requirements (if required).
  • Plan, schedule, monitor, and report on activities related to the project, including subcontractor monitoring.
  • Establishes key project criteria metrics with inputs from project owner and sponsor.
  • Ensuring the projects and activities are executed in the most efficient and agile way based on agreed company methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Develop project control and reporting procedures and manage changes in the project plan.
  • Plans and leads status review meetings, which may include internal team members, vendors, and customers.
  • Responsible for training, managing, and motivating the project team, as well as resolving team conflicts.
  • Resolves technical and operational issues as required.
  • Following the change methodology, participate, facilitate, drive the deliverables and manage feedback with the senior leadership on the project to ensure successful adoption.


RequirementsQualifications


  • Matric and a Tertiary qualification
  • PMP or similar project management certification is a must have.
  • Must be proficient in MS project and\other scheduling tools.
  • Highly experienced in the application of project governance and working within a PMO environment.
Skills


  • Experienced in running complex and multiple projects within an IT\Technology environment at a global level across matrixed client, supplier, and geographically dispersed virtual teams.
  • Excellent relationship and communication skills at all levels of the organization from senior leadership up to Director, CIO, and C-Suite.
  • Works independently, detailed orientated and ensure all project delivered to the highest quality.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills is a must have. Knows how to critic own work.
  • Strong grasp of current communication, project tracking, budget management technologies.
  • Excellent meeting, presentation workshop, and conference facilitation skills, with proven knowledge
  • of how foster attendee participate and collaboration in small and large groups.
  • Solid technical understanding and ability to define and refine requirements through a project lifecycle.
  • Employs strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • Experienced in working project coordinators and delegation when needed.
  • Ability to quickly learn, understand and apply new technologies.
  • Positive, can-do attitude with the ability to succeed in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Prior experience in participating or driving change management as part of the project.
  • Knowledge and experience with different project management frameworks, including waterfall and agile.
  • Highly proficient in project management methodology execution, tools, and templates (includes project planning, schedule development, scope management and cost management)
  • Excellent project management skills including prioritization, risk management, scheduling, documentation, and negotiation to ensure project remains on track.
  • Implements rigorous project control mechanisms to ensure project remains on track.
