About the position
My client based in Cape Town is currently looking for a Senior Project Manager to join their team on a contract basis.
IT / FINANCE
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Information Technology or related field
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the IT industry, including at least 5 years in software development
- Proven success managing end-to-end IT projects using Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Experience in the Financial Services or Insurance industry (advantageous)
- Skilled in working with diverse stakeholders (local and international)
- Strong track record using JIRA, Confluence, and other project management tools
- Solid understanding of System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes and IT governance frameworks
Responsibilities
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and budgets
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget
- Track progress, manage risks, and ensure all milestones are met
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Communicate updates, risks, and dependencies clearly and consistently
- Allocate and manage resources efficiently across projects
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks proactively
- Ensure deliverables meet required quality and business standards
- Conduct post-project reviews and apply lessons learned to future initiatives
- Mentor and guide project team members, promoting collaboration and accountability
- Foster an Agile, growth-oriented, and high-performance team culture
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices
