Senior Project Development Manager - Infrastructure
Durban or Cape Town - Hybrid
Our client is a specialist infrastructure advisory and project development consultancy delivering complex infrastructure projects across Southern Africa. Working with both public and private sector clients, they provide strategic advisory, project development and implementation support across sectors including energy, transport, water, logistics, commercial property and public infrastructure.
They are seeking an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in infrastructure project development, project management or infrastructure advisory to join their growing team. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary project teams through the full project lifecycle, from concept and feasibility through to implementation, while balancing technical excellence with commercial awareness.

Candidates from engineering consultancies, infrastructure advisory firms, project development companies, EPCM organisations, infrastructure investment businesses or Owner's Engineer environments are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Requirements
- Engineering degree (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or similar).
- Minimum 7 years' experience within infrastructure project development, engineering consulting, project management or infrastructure advisory.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of project development and project delivery methodologies.
- Exposure to feasibility studies, project planning and implementation.
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of project finance principles.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage infrastructure projects throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development through to implementation.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including engineering, environmental, legal, commercial and financial specialists.
- Review technical studies, engineering reports and project development documentation.
- Assess project risks, delivery strategies and implementation programmes.
- Support feasibility studies, business cases and investment evaluations.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, milestones and stakeholder engagement.
- Participate in procurement processes, bid preparation and transaction execution.
- Coordinate technical due diligence activities and specialist advisor inputs.
- Work closely with clients, project sponsors, investors, lenders and government stakeholders.
- Assist in developing practical, commercially viable solutions that improve project outcomes.
- Contribute to proposal preparation and business development initiatives.
Experience Required (in 1 or more of the following sectors):
- Renewable Energy, Water and Wastewater Infrastructure, Transport and Logistics, Rail Infrastructure, Mining Infrastructure, Ports and Terminals, Industrial Infrastructure, Gas and Energy Projects or Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs)
