Senior Professional Nurse Paeds ICU

About the position

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Professional Nurse to join our client's Paediatric ICU team in Johannesburg. This role is suited to a clinically skilled nursing professional with extensive PICU experience and a commitment to delivering exceptional care to critically ill children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialised nursing care to paediatric patients requiring intensive care
• Assess, monitor, and manage critically ill children
• Recognise and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer prescribed medication and specialised treatments
• Operate and monitor critical care equipment within scope of practice
• Collaborate with paediatricians and the multidisciplinary team
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient documentation
• Promote infection prevention and patient safety standards
• Support quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives
• Provide guidance and support to other nursing staff where required

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing
• Current registration with SANC
• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a Paediatric ICU
• Strong paediatric critical care knowledge
• Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Strong communication and organisational abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity environment
