About the position
Our client, a major construction and engineering group operating across Africa, seeks a Senior Procurement Manager to provide strategic oversight across regional buying activities. In-country buyers handle daily negotiations; this role focuses on governance, systems, strategic sourcing, and cost optimisation.
Key Focus Areas
- Implement procurement processes, systems, and controls
- Reduce last-minute purchasing through improved planning
- Drive strategic and bulk buying initiatives
- Support in-country/site teams with better pricing and supplier strategies
- Enhance procurement efficiencies and cost savings across Africa
Minimum Requirements
- Qualification: Relevant tertiary degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Commerce, or Engineering
- Experience: 8–10 years senior procurement experience
- Industry: Extensive experience within construction, engineering, mining, or large-scale project environments
- Africa experience: Proven procurement management across multiple African countries
- Systems: ERP proficiency (Buildsmart / CCS advantageous)
- Travel: Willing to travel across African regions
Key Responsibilities
- Lead regional procurement (tendering, supplier management, cost optimisation)
- Ensure compliance and risk mitigation
- Partner with Finance and Operations for reporting and forecasting
- Mentor and develop procurement teams
