SENIOR MILL MANAGER/PROCESSING MANAGER

Our client is seeking a dynamic, strategic leader to drive excellence at their Timber Mill. The following requirements are non-negotiable:
- Diploma/Degree/ B.Tech (Forestry, Wood, Ops Management)
- TIMBER/WOOD industry (non-negotiable)
- 7+ years in a senior strategic leadership role
- 5 yrs exp in Mill Operations Management
- Strong data interpretation skills
- Skilled in graded export sawntimber production
- Experienced in continuous improvement & digital transformation
The ideal candidate will:
Take charge of the TIMBER MILL operations, overseeing the full processing value chain, from log intake to dispatch.
Drive operational efficiency, optimise timber recovery, ensure premium sawntimber quality, and lead a high-performing team to achieve strategic business results.
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma/Degree/ B.Tech (Forestry, Wood, Ops Management, Production)
- TIMBER/WOOD industry (non-negotiable)
- 7+ years in a senior strategic leadership role
- 5 years within Mill Operations Management
- Strong data interpretation skills
- Skilled in graded export sawntimber production
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing budgets.
- Managing CAPEX projects with ROI tracking.
- Good commercial with solid understanding of cost drivers
- Working knowledge of TOC (Theory of Constraints), Lean, or other continuous improvement frameworks.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Leading and managing diverse teams with interdependencies.
- Skilled in change management.
- Working knowledge in continuous improvement processes.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and presentation capability.
- Strong influencing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate strategy into executable operational plans and measurable performance outcomes.
- Proven mentoring and coaching ability to build team competence and succession depth.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality, and performance.
- Must be able to maximise efficiencies.
- Manage machine uptime.
- Maximise the effectiveness of the plant and people.
