About the position
Introduction
The Senior Manager SCP Fresh is a role and function in the Senior Supply Chain team that aims to accurately forecast and replenish Fresh foods to all Fresh distribution centres, and corporate and franchise stores nationally, in the most cost-effective way possible. This role is required to formulate strategies with internal and external stakeholders, including the Senior Supply Chain Team, Commercial Heads, Operating Divisions, Suppliers, and 3rd and 4th party Logistic Companies, to capitalize on all sales opportunities in stores with accurate replenishment, whilst reducing distribution costs from Suppliers to stores.
Duties & Responsibilities
Formulate Strategic Operating Plan
Formulate the departments strategy
Create an annual and quarterly operating plan with key focus areas that is aligned to supply chain purpose and broader business strategy. Translate the operating plan into projects with clear, reachable deliverables, due dates, and resource allocation from teams
Clearly define dependencies and requirements from other business divisions to reach operating plan goals. Obtain stakeholder buy-in where required
Ensure operating plan is aligned to and supports team goals and plans
Ensure operating plan is clearly communicated to management and lower-level execution teams with a clear understanding of priorities, required participation and next steps
Track and report on progress of operating plan deliverables
Revise operating plan as and when required to ensure alignment with supply chain and business goals
Team Leadership & People Development
Leadership:
Create and implement a people plan among teams with clear, reachable goals and deliverables. The people plan should support a positive and motivated working environment and team culture
Create clear direction, guidance, and support for your team to execute required responsibilities
Create team structures that support set strategic goals, stabilised operational execution, and a productive and effective way of work
Mentorship to develop leadership and stakeholder integration skills
Clearly define KPIs and create IPA documents that are aligned to short term goals and KPIs
Self-Management:
Anticipate and respond in a proactive manner to future needs that may not be obvious to others; develop plans to persuade team members to adopt a new approach to achieve maximum delivery
Supply Chain Profitability (Vendor Income & Supply Chain Cost of Operation)
Supply Chain Cost of Operation & Efficiencies:
Have a good understanding of value chain cost and income components and the role planning plays to influence these levers
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and implement operational changes to reduce distribution costs without negatively impacting KPI's (Waste KPI's, Availability, Sales)
Identify and highlight system, process, report, and resource requirements needed for teams to action value chain efficiencies and Vendor Income projects
Understand department's impact on DC workload balancing and contribute towards improved in-week order distribution
Drive the implementation of key Vendor Income initiatives within the operational planning teams and ensure effective integration with the Vendor Income team
Supply Chain Income:
Define and implement initiatives that will lead to Increased franchisee buy-in participation through DCs
Vendor Income:
Understand and track vendor income targets and actual numbers
Obtain an in-depth understanding of vendor supply chains through collaboration sessions between PnP and key vendors
Define and drive the implementation of efficiency initiatives that will results in joint financial benefit, i.e., reduced costs and increased vendor income
Keep track of implemented efficiencies and agreed vendor income linked to each and highlight risks where targets might not be met on time
Continuous Improvement and Standardization (Policies & Procedures)
Work with teams to formulate strategies that will result in improved ways of work through improved processes, planning tools, reports, and system developments
Collaborate with stakeholders to obtain buy-in and support for planned business changes
Ensure successful implementation of new processes, tools, and reports in operational teams
Strategic sales planning and Operational Execution
Monitor high level KPIs and highlight/investigate variances to budgeted targets
Provide strategic input to sales plans and guide teams on decision making to improve the accuracy of forecasts
Ensure teams know when to influence forecast and that they are using the correct tools to accurately do so
Stakeholder Integration
Align budgets & targets with logistics and commercial
Manager and improve vendor collaboration process
Drive an aligned way of work between commercial, technical, CCM, NPD, marketing & planning teams
Follow Rhythm and Integration plan signed off by commercial counterpart
Divisional Profitability
Work with commercial and logistics teams to implement ways of work that will drive increased franchisee buy-in participation
Optimize lug sizes to assist with distribution efficiencies whilst managing waste
Understand the cost impact of transshipment and actively aim to optimize and reduce
Desired Experience & Qualification
Bachelors Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering or Economics
8+ years planning and supply chain experience in leadership roles with 4+ years' experience managing people
