About the position
Introduction
The position of Senior Manager: Procurement Operations is currently vacant. The incumbent will report directly to the Chief Finance Officer and will be based at Head Office - Pretoria.
The total remuneration package will be between R 1,613,106 and R2,016,382 per annum dependent on skills and experience

Duties & Responsibilities
The Senior Manager: Procurement Operations will be required to perform the following KPA responsibilities:
- Provide strategic planning, management, and monitoring of all procurement operations for Head Office and related business units.
- Oversee contracted procurement consultants, procurement compliance, and risk controls.
- Drive digital transformation in procurement systems and data analytics to improve transparency and operational efficiency.
- Implement and maintain rigorous procurement governance, including adherence to the Medical Schemes Act, B-BBEE Codes, POPIA, and KingIV principles.
- Manage and monitor procurement budgets, expenditure, and reporting in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer and relevant Committees.
- Lead the preparation of procurement reports, submissions, and documentation required for Board and Committee decision-making.
- Ensure alignment of procurement activities with GEMS strategy, policies, and financial objectives.
- Manage, mentor, and develop procurement staff to ensure operational excellence, performance improvement, and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of ethics, accountability, and member value within the Procurement unit.
- Monitor, evaluate, and mitigate procurement risks and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualification Requirements:
- A Degree, B-Tech, Bachelors, or Advanced Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Economics, or a related qualification.
- A relevant postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.
- A minimum of 8 years' experience in Supply Chain Management and/or Procurement, with 5 years at a managerial level.
- Proven experience in managing tender processes, contract management, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Knowledge of financial management, procurement systems, and risk management frameworks.
- Experience within a medical scheme or regulated environment will be advantageous.
