About the position
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To provide end-to-end financial management leadership, including strategic financial planning, forward-looking analysis, management reporting, statutory compliance, and the design of a robust control environment. The role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and credible financial information to enable informed decision-making by the Board and Executive Management, while ensuring compliance with PFMA and related legislation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- NQF Level 8 qualification in Financial Accounting
- Chartered Accountant (SA)
Minimum Experience
- 10–15 years’ relevant financial management and accounting experience at management level
- Experience within a SETA or public sector environment
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of PFMA and National Treasury Regulations
- In-depth knowledge of GRAP and regulatory accounting standards
- Knowledge of corporate governance and public sector regulatory frameworks
- Understanding of financial systems, controls, and grants management processes
Skills & Competencies
- Advanced computer literacy (particularly MS Excel)
- Strong analytical and financial management skills
- Ability to conduct trend analysis and provide strategic recommendations
- Data interpretation and reporting capability
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
