About the position
DESCRIPTION/SYNOPSYS:
This reputable manufacturing company are looking for an experienced Senior Maintenance Technician for their new operational plant in Cape Town. This role requires a skilled individual with strong problem-solving abilities and technical expertise in both electrical and mechanical maintenance. If you thrive in a hands-on environment and are eager to contribute to sustainable operations, this is the opportunity for you!
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Millwright qualification
- 5 years' experience in a maintenance technician role (advantageous)
- Knowledge of plastic recycling processes (preferred)
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
- Excellent problem-solving and time management abilities
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform pre-shift safety inspections
- Attend to and resolve electrical and mechanical breakdowns
- Service, repair, and conduct preventative maintenance on machinery
- Complete and maintain daily, monthly, and yearly equipment checklists
- Replace and sharpen grinder blades as needed
- Operate and monitor all plant machinery
- Adjust operational settings to maintain quality and efficiency
- Report any processing or equipment issues promptly to the Plant Manager
- Monitor and record PH levels
- Complete inspection sheets and give feedback to the team
- Conduct safety inspections in line with statutory standards
- Assist with routine, emergency, and preventative maintenance
- Perform additional related tasks as required
