The Role: Senior Legal Associate (Congo)

The Senior Legal Associate will play a critical role in advising clients on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters within the Congolese and OHADA legal frameworks. This role requires a skilled practitioner who can provide both strategic and technical legal support to local and international clients, ensuring compliance and facilitating investment and operational success.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal and tax advisory services to local and international clients operating in Congo
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, legal opinions, and corporate documentation
• Advise on corporate structuring, regulatory compliance, and investment frameworks
• Conduct legal research and monitor updates on local and regional legal developments
• Liaise with government authorities and regulators on behalf of clients
• Support regional and cross-border transactions under OHADA and Congolese law
• Collaborate with colleagues across offices and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives

About You

• LLB or related qualification
• Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in legal and tax advisory
• In-depth knowledge of OHADA law and Congolese commercial and labour law
• Proven experience advising international clients is advantageous
• Strong legal drafting, analytical, and communication skills
• Fluency in French; professional working knowledge of English highly desirable
• Experience in the energy or infrastructure sectors is highly valued
• Familiarity with judiciary procedures an advantage
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple assignments independently
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build lasting client relationships
