About the position
Our client seeks the expertise of a Senior IT Specialist will oversee the technological infrastructure supporting credit control and audit processes for municipal utility contracts. This role focuses on managing systems for data collection, storage, and reporting during water and electrical meter audits, disconnections, and water drop tests. The specialist ensures robust IT solutions for billing accuracy and operational efficiency, aligning with our client's commitment to quality and community-focused utility services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain IT systems for collecting and processing audit data from water and electrical meters.
- Integrate municipal billing systems with audit data to ensure accurate revenue tracking.
- Develop secure databases to store sensitive audit and billing information.
- Support data analysts and credit control teams with real-time data access and reporting tools.
- Implement cybersecurity measures to protect financial and operational data.
- Manage IT support for contractors conducting field audits and disconnections.
- Ensure system compliance with South African municipal regulations, including the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA).
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to audit and billing systems.
- Collaborate with municipal IT departments to align systems and data protocols.
- Provide training to staff on IT tools for audit and credit control processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CISSP) is advantageous.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5-7 years in IT system management, preferably in utilities or municipal environments.
- Experience with municipal billing systems or utility data management is highly desirable.
- Certifications: Certifications in database management, cybersecurity, or municipal IT systems are a plus.
Technical Skills
- Systems Management: Proficiency in managing ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) or municipal billing platforms.
- Database Management: Expertise in SQL, Oracle, or similar for data storage and querying.
- Cybersecurity: Knowledge of securing sensitive financial and operational data.
- Microsoft Office: Advanced Excel and reporting tools for data integration and analysis.
